(September 18, 2019) - Exaptive, Inc., CEO Dave King will provide the keynote address at the annual Oklahoma City Innovation District Breakfast. The breakfast is an opportunity for innovative business and community leaders to learn about plans for the district.

King’s address will focus on data-driven strategies for connecting teams across industries. He’ll also incorporate the attendees in a demonstration of how to use data, technology, and intention to facilitate innovation.

August 23, 2019 - Hundreds of Oklahoma leaders were on hand in Tulsa for the second annual OK WISE conference. Exaptive sent a team to represent the women impacting our company.

August 22, 2019 - It was a dark and stormy night when Data+Creativity held its first ever round of Lightning Talks. We always hear great ideas in the discussions following a guest speaker’s presentation at the meetups, and it was exciting to have lightning outside punctuating the great ideas from Lightning Talks inside.

June 16-19, 2019 - Innovation managers from around the world convened in Florence, Italy, for the annual conference of the International Society for Professional Innovation Managers (ISPIM). A team from Exaptive was excited to participate in a variety of events, including giving presentations, having thoughtful discussions, and leading a workshop.

July 18, 2019 - Some things that can't be taught in a classroom have a lot of influence over whether a nurse will be able to recognize when a patient is 'going downhill.' Dr. Susan Dresser, PhD, the Director of the Adult/Gero CNS Program at the OU HSC College of Nursing, presented her study at the July Data+Creativity meetup.

May 20, 2019 - Exaptive CEO Dave King presented at the Society for Philosophy and Technology’s annual conference, held this year in College Station, Texas, at Texas A&M. Dave presented the topic “Using integrative technology to ensure chance-inspired innovations maintain human values.”

May 9, 2019 - Over a 19-year career in academic research development and leadership, Dr. Alicia Knoedler has helped scientists, researchers, and creators grow and innovate at large research institutions, including the University of Oklahoma, Penn State University, and the University of Notre Dame. Now she is a key resource in the Oklahoma City technology ecosystem after joining high-tech startup Exaptive as the Director of Team Innovation.

February 21, 2019 - In non-governmental organizations, coordination of rapid response teams during emergencies/humanitarian crises faces a lot of challenges because of its linear design. Dr. Victor Soji Ladele, MBBS, who was a humanitarian aid coordinator for the World Health Organization during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Liberia, proposes deploying a cognitive network platform during emergencies and humanitarian crises that will facilitate a real time coordination mechanism.

January 11, 2019 - The Exaptive developer team was all in for the University of Oklahoma’s Academic Tech Expo. Engineers spent a day of the expo signing users up for a Cognitive City, which the University Libraries department will use to facilitate collaboration and innovation.

December 6, 2018 - Have you ever wished you could get a glimpse into a large set of books, articles, or documents, quickly get an idea of what they’re all about, and zero in on the one you should read first? Rapid text analysis is a critical need for researchers and anyone doing a literature review or trying to grasp a high-level overview of the concepts in a large body of text.

November 6-8, 2018 - The Climate Innovation Summit in Dublin, Ireland was held this month. The huge event was orchestrated by EIT Climate-KIC. EIT Climate-KIC is a pan-European public-private partnership supported by the EIT (European Institute for Innovation and Technology).

October 18, 2018 - At this month’s Data+Creativity Meetup we enjoyed a fascinating look into the role psychology has in developing successful human-computer interactions.

October 11, 2018 - A gathering of many of the most influential entrepreneurs in Oklahoma was held at the Oklahoma Ecosystem Forum for Entrepreneurial Catalysts. The event took place October 11, 2018, at American Fidelity Corporation and drew 50-60 investors and entrepreneurs.

September 2018 - Two major events in Oklahoma City in September showcased the interest in developing regional leadership in innovation.

August 16, 2018 - We experienced the biggest turnout yet for a Data+Creativity meetup this month. Roughly 60 people joined us to hear George Fairbanks, an author and Google software engineer.

Ask Google to translate ‘innovation’ from English to Swedish, and it's the same in both languages. Shannan Callies, the assistant to Exaptive CEO Dave King, and data scientist Frank Evans traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, for the ISPIM Innovation Conference in June 2018.

The opportunities were abundant for connecting research to enterprises. The Oklahoma City Innovation District hosted the first ever Sensors Symposium in the state on June 11, 2018. The event brought experts on sensor technology from private, non-profit, and military sectors.

In April 2018, data experts from around the world traveled to Seattle, WA, for the 2018 Sage Assembly. The topic this year was “Algorithms and the Role of the Individual.”

Reflected in the waters of Lake Garda, Italy, the Palazzo Feltrinelli stands as an example of architectural exaptation. Originally built as a home for a wealthy family in the late 1890s, it was exapted into Benito Mussolini’s headquarters during World War II, and then exapted later as a satellite branch of Milan’s public university, which it remains today.
